Chinese Pepper or "Sichuan Pepper" refers to a spice obtained from a group of closely related plants of the genus zanthoxylum. It is not related to black pepper but it is widely used in the cuisine of Sichuan China from which it takes its name. Sichuan pepper has a unique flavor with a slight lemony taste and a tingy numbness. Has small, almost round, green, single-toothed leaves that give off a fragrant aroma when they are rubbed firmly. Does well indoors.
